As part of the commemorative events marking the 83rd anniversary of the mass execution of 350 inhabitants of Doxato on 29 September 1941 by the Bulgarian occupation army, a photographic exhibition and educational activity entitled “Encountering Memory in Space” will be held. The event is co-organised by the Municipality of Doxato and the project Actions for History, Memory and Culture.

The photographic material presented is part of the wider exhibition “Spaces of Memory, Places of Martyrdom” by Nikos Kosmidis. Hosted at the Historic Town Hall of Doxato, the exhibition features photographs depicting sites associated with crimes committed by Nazism and the Axis forces against civilian populations across Europe. The material is the result of field research conducted by the photographer in various European countries as well as in martyred locations in Greece.

The opening will take place on Sunday, 29 September, at 13:00, at the Historic Town Hall of Doxato. The exhibition will remain in Doxato for a short period and will be open to student visits for ages 10–18. The educational tours include a discussion with the photographer about the content of the images and issues related to the preservation and interpretation of sites of memory.
